Helga ist tot. Wie tröstlich, dass ihr so viele schon zu Lebzeiten gezeigt haben, was sie ihnen bedeutet hat. Wer an sie denkt, an ihr Lachen, ihr Temperament, ihren Lebensmut, trägt Funken eines Feuers weiter, das die Welt heller macht.

Wir waren im September auch in Diez an der Lahn dabei, als Stolpersteine gesetzt wurden, fünf an der Zahl. Und einen haben wir bezahlt.
In September, we also attended a Stolperstein ceremony in Diez upon Lahn. Five stones that time. We paid for one of them.

Am 23. September um 11 Uhr werden Stolpersteine in Amsterdam verlegt für Betty Baer, geborene Sondheim, ihren Mann und ihren ältesten Sohn. Auf Hochdeutsch und auf Englisch könnt Ihr es unten nachlesen.

Klezmer ist nicht gleich Klezmer! Das Publikum in der Georg-Büchner-Buchhandlung war schwer beindruckt. Freunde haben mir danach geschrieben, dass sie eigentlich Deutschrock hören, aber es sei total toll gewesen, und echt eine Kunst. Eine andere Freundin fand’s wunderbar und meinte, der Buchladen sei das perfekte Ambiente gewesen. Applaus für Yale, Elizabeth, Petr und Sascha! Und für den Buchladen.
Klezmer isn’t always the same! The audience in the Georg Büchner bookshop in Bremen was very impressed. Friends have written to me afterwards that they usually listen to German rock, but that the concert had been totally terrific and really art. Another friend said it had been wonderful and that the bookshop had been the perfect ambiente. Applaus for Yale, Elizabeth, Petr and Sascha! And for the bookshop.

Ruth Stern Gasten has died on the 24th of April as Sam has told me. The local newspaper of Livermore, the Independend, has published an orbituary. Our thoughts are with Sam and everyone else who is, like us, missing her now and always.
Ruth Stern Gasten ist am 24. April gestorben, wie mir Sam geschrieben hat. Der Independend, die Lokalzeitung von Livermore, hat einen Nachruf gebracht. Unsere Gedanken sind bei Sam und allen anderen die sie, wie wir, jetzt und für immer vermissen.

Ober-Gleen is celebrating an anniversary: There is written proof that the village existed 750 years ago. The name, Gleen (Glenaha, at clear water), is much older, as it’s celtic. We are in Ober-Gleen on Saturday, May 31. Are you, as well?
